Apple Picking

On Friday our family went apple picking with Kean's class.  I loved being able to go on a field trip with Kean, since Dan was the one who went on most of them last year.  We took Kean and his friend Blake in our car and drove the 1 1/2 hours to the apple farm. The boys entertained themselves well in the back seat.  They were even nice to Taelyn who was sitting between them.

We learned about the seasons, moths and organic pesticides at apple school.  Most interestingly, we learned how fragile crops and farming can be.   This winter it got 2 degrees to cold for 20 minutes and the farm lost 80% of their apples and 90% of their peaches.  Seems like such a short amount of time for such destruction.

The weather was beautiful and the time together was great!  The apple picking was quick, but the kids had a fun time.
